Restoring an 1813 Bucks County Landmark

Originally built in 1813, the Carversville Inn in Solebury Township, Bucks County, underwent an extensive multi-year renovation and restoration with construction by J.R. Maxwell Builders. The project transformed the long-vacant landmark into a boutique hotel and restaurant while preserving the character of the original structure. Historic elements, including the stone fireplace, stone-and-stucco exterior, and wraparound porches, were retained and restored, while the upper-floor apartments were reconfigured into six luxury guest suites. Working with architectural and design plans by Wolstenholme Associates, J.R. Maxwell Builders helped bring new life to this more than 200-year-old Bucks County landmark, blending historic craftsmanship with the needs of a modern hospitality destination.

The rehabilitation was recognized with a 2026 Preservation Pennsylvania award for its achievements in construction and historic preservation.
